Castelrotto is a town with 6456 inhabitants (in the South Tyrolean Isarco, more precisely in Schlerngebiet near Bolzano and Bressanone.

The community consists of the town Castelrotto and a total of 10 political groups, including Seis and a number of other, smaller towns (St. Michael, St. Oswald, St. Vigil, Tagusens, Tisens) is one of the factions of the community and the vast Seiser Alm, which accounts for almost half as high surface area of the municipality. The Seiser Alm is a nature reserve, a smaller part belongs to the natural park Schlern. Three fractions, Bulla, Roncadizza and surface Jenderbach to lie on the south-western side of the valley of Val Gardena and thus belong to the Ladin culture.
